Where are passwords stored in Google Chrome?
Like any other browser, it allows users to save passwords. This is a very convenient feature - you entered the password once, for example, for mail, and now, when you log into your account, you do not need to enter the password again, since the system will automatically add it to the required field. But here a problem can also arise. So, someone from your environment who has access to the browser can easily look at the saved passwords, and this, you understand, will not lead to anything good. Therefore, I recommend not to save such important data in the browser, besides, there is a possibility that a virus can steal it. And although this data is stored in encrypted form, this does not mean that they cannot be decrypted.
Well, okay, we digress a little from the topic. In order to find out where the passwords are in Google Chrome, you need to use the browser settings. You can type chrome://settings/ into the address bar and hit the Enter button, or click the three-bar button on the right side of the screen. Then select "Settings".
A settings window will open in front of you. I’ll say right away that there are plenty of settings here, and therefore we’ll immediately scroll to the very bottom, where the “Show advanced settings” link will be located. We click on it.
Here we are looking for the subsection “Passwords and forms”. It looks like this:
Next to the item "Offer to save passwords for sites" is the link "Configure" (highlighted on the previous one). Click on it, a window will open in front of you. It looks like this:
Here we see the sites on which we saved passwords (in my case, this is Yandex.Mail), and on the right side, under the dots, is the password. To see it, you need to move the mouse cursor over the site address and click, after which the line will be highlighted in blue, and the “Show” button will appear on the right side, where the saved password is located. If you click on it, you will see the saved password.
To remove the password, click on the cross, which is located on the right side of it.
That's the whole secret. I repeat, it is better not to store passwords in browsers ever.
