All about the artio joomsef component. Quick start with ARTIO JoomSEF. Component control panel overview
Every website owner makes a lot of efforts to promote his website in search results. Despite the fact that the Joomla management system has undergone many positive changes in the field of optimization, there are extensions that improve Joomla's search engine optimization parameters many times over.
Features of the ARTIO JoomSEF component
In this article I will tell you about a very useful extension for Joomla component ARTIO JoomSEF. Useful features there's quite a lot in it. The ARTIO JoomSEF extension has the following features:
- Setting up CNC (SEF) links in Joomla. That is, after creating the material, you will no longer have to fill out the “Nickname” field under the title. The component will create a highly readable URL - the address of the web page.
- Setting the address of website web pages with www or without www.
- Quickly configure cache configuration. Reduces the load on the server by reducing calls to the database.
- Creating and setting up a 404 error. The page, in its original form, simply scares away site visitors. Now you can format it properly right in the component.
- Quickly disable NC creation for components.
Installing the ARTIO JoomSEF component
You can download the ARTIO JoomSEF component from the official ArtioSef website.
Important: ArtioSef 2.x.x versions are for Joomla 1.0, versions 3.x.x are for Joomla 1.5, versions 4.x.x are for Joomla 1.6, Joomla 2.5 and Joomla 3.
The ARTIO JoomSEF component is installed in the same way as other extensions. To install, log into the admin panel - “Extensions” - “Install/Uninstall”. Through “Browse”, find the downloaded ARTIO JoomSEF archive on your computer and click “Download file & Install”.
After successfully installing the extension, pay attention to the information that appears in English. Here we are warned that for the component to work correctly, we need to make some changes to the htaccess file settings. If you get an error warning when using htaccess.txt, use .htaccess.
To configure the extension, go to "Components" - ARTIO JoomSEF - Configuration
Configure the component properly:
- JoomSEF Enabled? - enable and disable JoomSEF;
- Replacement character and Page spacer character - symbol for replacing and separating pages. If you specify (_) all words in links will be separated by underscores;
- Use Title or Alias? - use a name or nickname. Select the desired option;
- File suffix - enter (.html);
- www and non-www domain handling - domain handling with www or without www. Select the desired option
After saving the settings, enter URLs Management (Manage SEF URLs)
Check all links and delete them. To do this, select the "Delete" option at the top of the window and click the "Proceed" button. You must delete the URL for the changed settings to take effect. After deletion, the list of links will be updated with the new settings
And so, the installation and necessary settings for the ARTIO JoomSEF component are completed. The component already works, but we have the opportunity to increase the usefulness of its operation. In the next article we will take a closer look at a number of extension settings that will help promote your site in search results.
Not very nice, is it? And it’s not at all clear what category of the site you are in. To make beautiful and understandable site link addresses, we will need to include this feature in general settings. To do this, go to the administrative panel, there in the general settings find “Search Engine Optimization Settings” and check all three boxes next to “Enable SEO”, “Use mod_rewrite” and “Add suffix to URL”. After this, you must definitely rename the htaccess.txt file to .htaccess (the file is located in the root directory of your site if you have already moved the site to virtual hosting, That ). It is also important to know that when using a standard CNC, you will need to write a nickname for each material or site menu item (necessarily in small English letters). If you do not write an alias, the standard link conversion component will use the date the article was written instead of the name. But third-party extensions themselves translate article titles into English text, so this is another reason to use them! These standard settings enough for most novice users.
Everything is clearly visible here: section - promotion, subsection - website promotion, article - internal website optimization. This helps the user navigate the site.
It is necessary to install CNC on the site not only because of beautiful links, but also to increase the security of the site. Joomla sites are most often hacked due to third-party extensions that you install. If a hacker has discovered a “hole” in some extension, then he will simply need to enter in the search, for example, “com_content...” (if the CNC is turned off, then instead of content there will be the name of any extension by which they can find you). But when the links are human-readable, then no search will return your extensions.
It is recommended to enable CNC immediately when creating a site, and not after getting into the search index. If your site is already indexed search engines and it has traffic, then it is not advisable to install CNC, since all links will disappear and lose weight. It will take quite some time before search robots re-examine your site and take into account the new link addresses. An incident can also happen if search engines think that you are duplicating content.
Installation and configuration of ARTIO JoomSEFYou can safely use a standard component to generate CNC links, but it is only good for standard Joomla extensions(this applies to Joomla 1.5 version. In new versions of Joomla 1.7 and higher, it is suitable for almost any extension). I would also use the standard CNC generation component, but it does not support some of the extensions that I use on my site (for example, it does not correctly generate links for the K2 component). So I had to look for similar and more powerful extensions, which would make the “correct” links for all pages of my site. Such an application turned out to be the ARTIO JoomSEF component (Installing components, modules and plugins on a Joomla website). After installing ARTIO JoomSEF, check the extension version:
If there is new version, then feel free to install it. Fortunately, the program itself has an excellent module for automatic update the component itself and additional extensions to him. Click "Upgrade" at the top right:
If any updates are available, you can install them directly from the admin panel without making any unnecessary movements. Now you need to properly configure this wonderful component. Go to "Configuration" and enter the values as shown in the screenshots below. This optimal settings this component (if you are good at this, you can try to configure it yourself).
"Basic" setting:
"Normal" setting:
Setting "Cache":
Setting up "Title and Meta tags":
SEO settings and SiteMap are available only in the paid version.
Setting up the "404 error page":
Instead of a 404 error when a page is unavailable, it will open home page Your website.
So, here we have configured the ARTIO JoomSEF component. Don't forget to clear the cache (to do this, go to the admin panel and select tools - clear cache, select all the elements in it and delete). I advise you not to miss interesting information.
The ARTIO JoomSEF component is designed to create SEF links to pages on your site. His role is very noticeable in promoting the site. This article describes the installation and configuration of the component.
As a rule, for Joomla everyone uses the ARTIO JoomSEF or sh404sef components. They don’t really use standard means. Perhaps you don’t need third-party components and it’s enough to use the standard SEF Joomla described in my other article, I recommend starting to study there.
I should immediately note that I tried installing ARTIO JoomSEF and sh404sef. I didn’t like sh404sef because it is a commercial paid component; I use ARTIO JoomSEF. The functionality included in free version allows me to do everything I need.
