Huawei Honor 5 x. Phone app and contacts
At the very beginning of August 2016, Huawei announced the Honor 5A smartphone for the domestic market. This budget solution for youth, as well as the youngest model in the family. The device costs just over $100, but for the money it offers very good hardware and an interesting design.
Appearance and ergonomics
Huawei Honor 5A cannot charm at first sight, but showing this gadget to your friends is not at all a shame. Thanks to its compact size, the device fits comfortably into any pocket or women's clutch. The smartphone is extremely easy to operate even with one hand, since the thumb can freely reach any point on the screen. The body of the smartphone is made of plastic, which is quite expected for a truly budget device. Navigation buttons are present in the interface, but there are no mechanical keys under the display.
With its 8.9 mm thickness, Honor 5A does not look plump at all. The appearance of the device is very elegant. The back panel, which is textured, especially stands out. This allows the smartphone not to slip in your hands, and also gets rid of fingerprints. The cover can be easily removed since the battery is removable. The assembly is completed normally, but the body lacks rigidity, namely the side edges. Honor 5A is available in the following colors: white, gold and black.
Display
IN Huawei Honor 5A houses a 5-inch screen with a completely classic HD resolution - 1280 by 720 pixels. Good detail is somewhat spoiled by the blurry small font. Installed here IPS matrix, which means you can count on large viewing angles. At the same time, the contrast drops seriously when the gaze is greatly averted. The sensor turned out to be very responsive. You will also be pleased with the excellent brightness of the flagship-level display. But the screen contrast is only satisfactory, because there is clearly not enough color saturation.
Hardware and performance
The device from Huawei is based on a MediaTek MT6735C chip with four cores (Cortex-A53) and a clock frequency of 1300 MHz. Honor 5A has 16 GB of internal storage, as well as 2 GB of RAM. The device is ready to expand memory without any problems if you insert microSD card with a capacity of up to 128 GB. The graphics accelerator is a Mali-T720 chip with a frequency of 600 MHz.
The performance level of Honor 5A in modern realities leaves much to be desired. Of course for simple tasks The available speed is sufficient, and the interface works smoothly. But in 3D games and heavy programs the smartphone behaves unconvincingly. This is confirmed by tests: AnTuTu - 33000 points, Ice Storm Unlimited - 4900 points, GFXBench 3 - 471 (T-Rex Offscreen).
Communication and sound
The smartphone supports two nano-SIMs, one of which works on 4G or 3G networks, and the second on 2G. There is support for LTE with maximum speed up to 150 Mbit/s. There is Bluetooth 4.0, as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The communication quality is standard for this class of devices. The sound is quite loud, but without any miracles in terms of purity.
Camera
The Honor 5A is not focused on taking great photos, but the 13-megapixel camera with dual flash performs well in its segment. During the daytime, the module is especially bright. But when the lighting level drops, various artifacts come out, and the contrast decreases sharply. The user can adjust sharpness, brightness, ISO and other parameters. The camera has a nice and modern interface. On the left side of the case there is a “smart” key for “hidden” shooting.
The front 5-megapixel camera can boast of absolutely nothing. True, the presence of a face flash, which can be useful when taking an evening selfie, is surprising. Fans of self-portraits will also appreciate the “Beauty” mode to enhance the photo as much as possible.
Conclusions
In its price segment, Huawei Honor 5A has a great chance of success. This budget-class smartphone has a nice appearance, a decent camera, a front flash, support for LTE and dual SIM cards. In terms of price-quality ratio, Honor 5A is an excellent choice.

Video reviews
The quality of hands-free speakers in Honor smartphones is a sore point. No, they don’t fail prematurely, but they almost always produce disgusting sound quality. I can't vouch for the Honor 5X, but the 4C, 4C Pro, 4X, Honor 7 all sound terrible. Most models are equipped with cheap beepers that squeal at high frequencies, and Honor 5C, unfortunately, is no exception. The volume is enough, but the sound is similar to the good old Siemens CX65/CX75 mobile phones (in case anyone remembers), or a pack of in-ear headphones that made people roar maximum volume. That is, there is a lot of noise, but little sense. This is strange, because the speaker in the co-platform P9 Lite is quite good.
In headphones, our hero sounds like an “ordinary smartphone, MediaTek-shaped” - any model MT6752/6753/Helio P10/X10 produces a similar sound. That is, such a banal, neither good nor bad audio stream, with slightly excessive clarity and average amplitude. Even with not very expensive headphones, you want to dive into the equalizer and improve the sound.
The SWS function in a standard audio player partially copes with this mission, but it does not radically change the picture. Buyers who aren't jaded are unlikely to notice any shortcomings in the sound, but the fact remains that smartphones based on MediaTek and HiSilicon chips always sound worse than their counterparts on the Qualcomm platform. And somehow chipmakers are in no hurry to change the situation for the better.
Iron
Wonderful are your deeds, Chinese market economy! Huawei has long been practicing the complete replacement of third-party processors with its own (HiSilicon Kirin), but there has so far been little practical benefit from this, other than the benefit of Huawei itself. But then the partner of the Chinese brand, TSMC, mastered the cool technical process (raised the manufacturing quality, roughly speaking) 16 nm FinFET, and after that the Chinese had economical “Galaxy S6 processor killers” Kirin 950/955. And, what is much more important, the first budget processor of its kind based on the advanced 16 nm process technology, Kirin 650.
It is becoming a good tradition in our editorial office to begin testing Honor line products within the framework of the information embargo. This happened with the 5A model, so we had to think and fantasize about some of the features of the new product. Nevertheless, it was immediately clear that the device has a 5-inch screen, a quad-core processor, two gigabytes of RAM and sixteen flash memory. Interesting? Let's go.
Review Huawei smartphone Honor 5A: almost without flaws
I wouldn’t really like to apply such a wording as “budget” to the Honor 5A; rather, it is a device in the entry-level segment in the manufacturer’s line, which, however, does not detract from its advantages and in terms of characteristics it can easily compete with middle-devices of other brands. Which ones? Let's look at an example:

Appearance
The current generation of Huawei smartphones has its own recognizable style: if there are similarities within the lines, then it is not easy to confuse them with devices from other brands. It’s the same with Honor 5A: there are familiar notes from the company’s smartphones that have previously been reviewed by the editorial office - this cannot be taken away.
What we have in front of us is a monoblock of average dimensions by today's standards, which are determined by the diagonal of the screen. The weight of the new product is not great and does not cause discomfort either during conversation or during prolonged interaction with the menu. Honor 5A is made in a plastic case with a removable back cover, which, however, does not spoil it: the materials are of high quality, and the assembly is quite good (although the cover fasteners sometimes do not fit into all the grooves when put in place).
The editors have seen a gold color option, and black and white will also be available for sale. The marking of the design is moderate: the lion's share of prints is attracted by the screen, while the edging of the body and back cover with a fancy cage are free of these shortcomings.
The filling of the case is standard and we will start the descriptive part from the front panel. In addition to the display, which will be discussed later, on top there is a flashlight and front camera lens, a horizontal speaker mesh and position/proximity sensors. At the bottom there is only the logo of the line; the control keys are a virtual element of the OS.
On the left end of the body there is a so-called "easy key" - key on various types pressing and holding which you can hang up the launch of some options.
On the right is a combined volume rocker and lock key: both elements have an average but pleasant action.
On the bottom edge of the case there is a micro-USB connector for charging and synchronizing the device, surrounded by openings for the call speakers, and on the top there is a 3.5 mm audio jack and a noise-canceling microphone.
The rear panel of Honor 5A, in addition to the line logo, houses a rear camera lens slightly protruding from the body panel and a dual LED flash to the right of it.
To remove the battery compartment cover, there is a ledge in the lower left corner, by pulling which you can release it, but it is still better to release the fastening locks with a plastic card, so as not to break your nails.
Inside, we find, oddly enough, a replaceable battery in the corresponding compartment, which in turn covers the slots for two micro-SIMs and a memory card. It is possible to install a nano-SIM instead of a micro-SIM, but it may take a couple of iterations for the contacts of the modules to match, and this is a reboot - “hot swapping” is excluded.
Screen
The device uses a 5-inch IPS matrix with an average resolution by today's standards. In general, the picture is clear, but we would not put it on a par with the manufacturer’s flagships - there is no ringing sharpness here, although the positioning is appropriate. There is plenty of brightness, automatic adjustment works correctly, and viewing angles, if not maximum, tend to be so.
As for color temperature, this parameter is adjustable both within the automatic values and by moving the warm - cold slider.
The sensor is capacitive and supports up to 5 simultaneous touches, which is generally sufficient. Responsiveness to command and text input is good.
Software and interface
The smartphone runs Android 5.1 OS and is equipped with the manufacturer's proprietary interface EMUI version 3.1, the main principle of which is the elimination of the main menu.
The lock screen has a standard layout and content: status bar, clock, date, and access to the camera. Additionally, you can enter text to display and by sliding the bottom curtain you can access the voice recorder, calculator and flashlight.
Desktops are the main customizable shell tool: in addition to themes and wallpapers, there are widgets, application shortcuts, as well as folders for their arrangement. The bottom line is a customizable “dock” of the main functions, and the top “red thread” is the status drain. By scrolling through the latter, we will have access to received notifications, as well as, in the second tab, to the wireless modules launch matrix and the display brightness slider.
The settings menu is traditionally designed as a lined vertical list of available options, plus there is an abbreviated, general list.
Among the interesting options is “Simple desktop”: displaying the main options in the form of “tiles” to optimize the interface and, apparently, save battery power.
SIM cards are managed from a separate sub-item, which involves setting defaults, and the event indication is very clear.
In addition to the standard set of applications and Google services in the basic package of Honor 5A you will find: Sberbank client, access to the Huawei brand store, Yandex tools, Opera browser, mail and news Mail.ru, Odnoklassniki client, file manager, phone manager, notes, WPS Office, backups, weather informer, Cleam Master, Shazam and Booking.com clients.
Hardware and Performance
The hardware characteristics of the new product are not the most stellar, a quad-core processor and two gigabytes of RAM, but they fully cope with basic tasks: the interface scrolls smoothly, built-in applications launch and function without lags.

The inexpensive Honor 5X smartphone in a spectacular metal case is equipped with an 8-core processor, a 5.5-inch Full HD display, a 13-megapixel camera, two SIM card slots and a fingerprint scanner. Vesti.Hi-tech tested all the capabilities of this new product in action on New Year's Eve.
In 2015, the Chinese Huawei not only gained a foothold in the top five leading smartphone manufacturers, but also took one of the prizes. Having bypassed such giants as HTC, LG and Sony, the company found itself in the top three. The door to the elite club, which previously only included Samsung and Apple, was opened for Huawei by sales of 100 million smartphones over the past year. The company is now going to consolidate its success in the American market, where it made announcements the day before at CES 2016. One of the models promoted in the USA was Honor 5X, the price of the device will be $200 without a contract. Since the end of autumn, this mid-range smartphone has been offered only to Chinese users, although it can already be purchased online, for example through trading platforms on AliExpress. A slightly different model will be sold in Russia, about which below.

Design, ergonomics
Already from the name it follows that Honor 5X continues the work of its predecessor, although in terms of filling, and appearance, he, perhaps, gravitates more towards.
Due to its exterior, it’s hard to recognize what’s new inexpensive smartphone, since the frankly budget design was replaced with a more expensive and attractive one.
In addition, the metal body and fingerprint scanner bring Honor 5X even closer to flagship models.
While maintaining the 5.5-inch screen diagonal, the dimensions of the new smartphone in plan, compared to 8.15 mm). In addition, it turned out that the stylish metal vestment was lighter than the nondescript polycarbonate cover (weight dropped from 170 g to 158 g).
Note that, as in the case with, the back panel of Honor 5X is made of aluminum, while plastic radio-transparent inserts for antennas are used in its upper and lower parts. According to available information, new smartphone will be available in three colors - dark grey, silver and gold. We received the device in the latest color for testing.
The entire front surface of the new product is covered with tempered mineral glass with a protective factory film.
To the right of the narrow speaker grille is an LED event indicator, to the left is the front camera lens, as well as proximity and light sensors.
Control panel buttons (Back, Home, and Latest apps"), indicated in the style of Android 5.x by the icons "triangle", "circle" and "square", are located at the bottom of the screen. In the settings menu, you can add another icon to them, tapping on which controls the curtain of notifications and icons quick launch. The front of the smartphone traditionally did not receive the Honor brand logo.
The left edge of the case is occupied by two closed slots, one of which, below (with two trays), is intended for a nanoSIM subscriber identification module and a card microSD memory, and the other one above (with one tray) is for a microSIM card. You can use a thin paperclip as a master key for locks.
A rather thin volume rocker and a power/lock button were placed on the right edge.
At the top end there is a 3.5 mm connector for an audio headset and a hole for a second microphone (noise reduction).
The grille of the “multimedia” speaker on the bottom end, like the one consisting of two groups of holes (the speaker itself is hidden under the right one, in the photo - the bottom one), surrounds the microUSB connector. True, the holes, behind which there is also a “conversational” microphone, are round, and the stylish design is complemented by mounting screws with a “5-star” slot on the sides of the above-mentioned connector.
The main camera on the rear panel protrudes slightly above the plane of the body.
To the left of the lens there was a place for a dual two-color LED flash (on the right), and just below it for a fingerprint scanner.
But the Honor logo, unlike , is shifted to the lower part of the rear panel.
By the way, the shape of the case is quite ergonomic, which allows you to hold it securely in the palm of your hand even with the relatively large size of the device. To comfortably handle the Honor 5X with one hand, in the settings, it is still easy to activate the mode of the same name (“One-handed control”), as well as a special control button.
Screen, camera, sound
As already noted, the screen diagonal size of the Honor 5X remained the same as its predecessor - 5.5 inches, but the resolution increased from HD (1280x720 pixels) to Full HD (1920x1080 pixels). At the same time, the density of dots per inch increased from 267 ppi to 401 ppi. The IPS matrix uses GFF (Glass-to-Film-to-Film) full lamination technology, which is budget option OGS (One Glass Solution), due to which it is possible to achieve good anti-glare properties and reduce the reflection effect. Viewing angles are quite wide, and the colors and clarity of the picture, in particular for video with 1080p quality, are quite acceptable. The screen backlight has a small margin of brightness.
By the way, it is proposed to adjust its level manually or use it for this automatic setup according to data from the built-in light sensor. The touch capacitive screen clearly responds to pressure and recognizes up to ten simultaneous touches. This multi-touch is confirmed by the results of the AnTuTu Tester and MultiTouch Tester programs. In the settings you can change the color temperature of the screen - make the colors warmer or, conversely, cooler. There is also an option to increase the sensitivity of the sensor for working with gloves. But the screen lock allows you to prevent accidental operations with your smartphone when it is in your pocket or bag.
The main camera of Honor 5X uses a 13-megapixel BSI sensor with a blue IR filter. The 5-element lens has an equivalent focal length (EFL) of 28 mm, and aperture (aperture) of f/2.0. Of course, autofocus and dual led flash also in stock. Maximum resolution The image size is 4160x3120 pixels (13 MP) with a classic aspect ratio (4:3) and 4160x2336 pixels (10 MP) for a widescreen frame (16:9). Examples of photos can be viewed.
In turn, the front camera received a 5-megapixel matrix, while a 4-lens wide-angle lens with an f/2.4 aperture and an EGF of 22 mm will please selfie lovers, including panoramic ones (groophy). The maximum resolution of the “self” is 2592x1944 pixels (5 MP, 4:3) and 2592x1456 pixels (3.8 MP, 16:9), respectively.
The main camera can shoot videos in Full HD resolution (1920x1080 pixels, 16:9) at 30 fps, but the front camera is content with only HD quality (1280x720 pixels) at the same frame rate. At the same time, all content is saved in MP4 container files (AVC - video, AAC - sound).
The interface of the “Camera” application offers you to decide on the type of shooting: “Photo”, “Video”, “Time Lapse” (for shooting “time lapses”), “Decoration” (needed to improve portraits) and “Tasty food” (gastronomic photography). In turn, the menu provides several main modes, including HDR, “Panorama”, “Successful Photos” (selecting the best from a 10-frame series), “Focus” (changing focus after shooting from the foreground to the background and vice versa), " Watermark" (adds information about the time, place of shooting and current weather to the photo), "Audio note" (after shooting, you can record a 10-second sound file) and “Slow motion” (shooting at 480p quality and 120 fps frame rate). In addition to selecting image resolution and video quality, the settings adjust parameters such as saturation, contrast, brightness and exposure levels. Presets for white balance and ISO are also available. In addition, separate adjustment of focus and exposure metering is provided for different points of the image on the screen. In the settings, it is also worth noting the functions “Autofocus in motion” (the subject remains in focus at all times) and “Smile” (the shutter is released when a smile is detected). A set of eight filters such as “Vintage”, “Monochrome”, etc. is available. The shooting itself can be activated using the volume rocker, which can also be easily assigned to be responsible for zooming the image or manual focusing. You can switch to the "Camera" application (also with simultaneous shooting) from the lock screen of your smartphone by double-clicking the volume rocker (down button). For the front camera, the only available modes are “Panorama”, “Watermark”, “Audio Note” and “Mirror”.
On Honor 5X regular means FLAC files are played, created by codecs to compress audio data without losing quality. The "multimedia" speaker (under the grille to the right of the microUSB connector) produces, although not very loud, but quite clear sound, which you usually can’t count on in budget devices. For headphones, you can use a 5-band equalizer with gain low frequencies and a 3D effect (“virtualizer”). The FM tuner built into the smartphone requires the connection of a wired audio headset, which is used as a short-wave antenna.
Filling, performance
You can register up to five different fingerprint patterns in the Fingerprint settings. In addition to unlocking the screen, it is possible to use them to access Personal content or locked applications. Moreover, by tapping and swiping touchpad Using a fingerprint scanner, you can also operate the notification shade, answer incoming calls, turn off the alarm, and start taking photos or videos.
Purchase, conclusions
With more advanced hardware than the , the new smartphone has a stylish metal design, like the . The advantages of Honor 5X also include support for the main “Russian” LTE frequencies, separate slots for microSD and two SIM cards, and a fingerprint scanner. The last two “highlights” distinguish it favorably from other budget “classmates” with advanced filling, such as, for example.
The start of official sales of Honor 5X is expected at the end of January. If the exchange rate remains at least at the same level, average price smartphone will be 15-17 thousand rubles. Considering the capabilities and spectacular appearance of the new device, this is quite a bit.

Huawei Honor 5c
It's time to remember the accordion from Game of Thrones about Hodor. And this is the first thing that comes to mind when you see a phone labeled Honor.
But this phone is not a fat talking fat man, but quite a nimble young man.
That’s exactly what we’ll talk about today.
- Design and appearance.
- Technical specifications (for people).
- Video and photo camera.
- Battery.
- Pros and cons.
- Bottom line.
Its price for a moment is 10,990 rubles in communication. And you can take advantage of the maximum set of discounts and the phone will cost 8,500, which is absolutely nothing.
Honor on
Appearance, let's start with the boxes and unpacking.
Correct and full name Honor 5c nem-l51
box from Huawei Honor - marine color with iridescence on the inscriptions
Blue-green (sea green) box, inside instructions, a clip for removing the SIM card and charging.
Inside lies our little Honor 5c, although we wouldn’t call it a little guy.
Aluminum housing
There is a metal case at the back, a pleasant chill.
At the back we see a camera, a flash, and the inscription honor. Near the camera there is an NFC card (contactless control, for example, using a phone to pay in a store).
bottom view
At the bottom there is a speaker and a microphone, for beauty there are two bolts and a charging socket.
top view
At the top there is a 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a hole, most likely for a second microphone for noise reduction, and it seems to me that it will be used when recording video, because it records sound in stereo.
hole for flash drive and SIM card
On the side there is a connector for a micro SD flash drive (10 class) and a nano SIM card.
On the other side there is a volume and power button.
In front, in addition to the screen itself, at the top we see a speaker, a status indicator, front camera and a light sensor.
Honor 5c specifications:
Screen diagonal 5.2 inches with a resolution of 1920 by 1080 pixels.
But what will please many is the pixel density of 424 per inch, which none of the phones I know of in the same price range can boast of, and even those that are more expensive, 30-40 thousand each, usually have a pixel density of 1.5 - 2 times lower.
In a word, the picture will be more than clear and bright. Everything is visible, almost a full 180 degrees.
There's nothing to complain about the screen. Everyone will like it, especially those who want to see juicy pictures.
No one can be surprised by 16 million display colors.
The touch display, which registers up to 10 clicks, allows you to play toys with all your fingers at once. Reacts only to fingers, and not to accidental presses, say, with chips.
HiSilicon Kirin 650 processor with a frequency of 2,000 MHz
Number of cores - 8 pieces. Of these, four 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 cores and four 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 cores. And video chip Mali T830 MP2.
Whatever it means).
Built-in memory 16 GB, which of course is not enough in the modern world, but no one has canceled it cloud storage+ flash drives up to 128 GB MicroSD, MicroSDHC, MicroSDXC.
RAM 2048 MB, not much, but quite enough.
By the way, you can add another SIM card (though in place of a flash drive), here you can choose either 2 SIM cards, or a lot of memory and few SIM cards.
The default operating system is Android 6.0 Marshmallow. After turning on, “marshmallow” will be updated to “Nougat” Android 7.0.
The same thing will happen with EMUI 4.1 - this is a proprietary shell from Huawei, which will turn into EMUI 5.0
By the way, about the shell.
The top curtain will look like this:
Well, the icons themselves are menus.
While I was taking a screenshot, I noticed how the brightness slider was sliding down, I thought it was buggy, but no, I remembered that there was an automatic brightness change.
It’s convenient that you can customize gestures, for example, change all the buttons, or turn on the one-handed mode. In general, there are more than enough settings.
There are few pre-installed applications, and that’s good; in the first days of use, I deleted almost all of them.
The application is from SberBank, Opera, but there are others, for example, a store from Huawei, or the “Health” application, which will count how much you found there during the day.
What do you think of your training regime? For example, if you want to start running, the application will create the plan you need, and within a couple of weeks you will be ready to run your first marathon.
There is an internal optimizer, the good news is that it works autonomously and you don’t have to constantly poke it like on other phones. There is also a built-in antivirus and system cleaning.
From jokes - Each time you turn on your phone, you will be shown a new screensaver wallpaper. By default, there are about 10 pictures that change each other, and all the pictures are stylish.
Eat music player- simple, what else do you need? Equalizer only if, but it’s not here.
As for the music, I have never listened to it at maximum volume, since the phone is loud, it really likes to shout. And you know what happens, you turn on YouTube, and the sound is quiet and you set the maximum settings to 100%, but the volume is still not enough. This is not the case; I have never used it at full volume (except for this test, of course).
As for the sound, it will be quite suitable for a statistical user who likes to stick plugs in the subway.
AnTutu shows 54,981, which is not bad at all.
Camera on the phone
This is a separate story. I specifically (albeit in a store) tested the cameras of Asus Live, LG K8 2017, LG Dual Cam, Sony E5 and Nokia 3, I’ll be honest - Honor beats these phones not only in terms of the camera, but in general in all characteristics.
I took photos and zoomed in, pixels were visible in all the cameras of other phones, the only one who passed the test was Honor.
And there are two cameras: 13 megapixel main, and 8 megapixel front.
Settings in the camera, even if you eat in a famous place. This is a complete exclusive from Huawei.
Photo, pro photo (with ISO settings, autofocus lighting and everything else). Shooting video in HD and full HD, there is stabilization and autofocus in motion, although it works if the object does not jump out of the frame.
WHO NEEDS PHOTOS AND VIDEOS FROM THE PHONE, WATCH THE VIDEO AT THE TOP OF THE ARTICLE, THE ENTIRE vid was shot on this phone, and there are photos there.
And a whole bunch of settings that will suit those who like to take photos on their mobile phones.
And in my opinion, this is one of those phones that you can buy and win the camera.
Of course, it also has its drawbacks, for example, in low light conditions noise appears; in the center everything is more acceptable, but there is noise on the sides. But this is not critical, just take pictures in good weather.
Well, the selfie camera is not ideal, of course, but quite good, for a phone for 10 thousand rubles.
Battery 3000 mAh. If anything is enough for 1 day of active internet surfing, 3.5 hours of playing Tanks, or 1.5 hours of regular hanging out on the phone. Well, for 3-4 days, if you rarely use the phone.
Charges from the original charger in 2.5 hours.
I am pleased with the internal optimization of energy resources. They say you want to save charge, select the desired mode and everything is ok. When less than 10% remains, you can select the battery saving mode, when everything is turned off except calls, SMS and clocks. Comfortable.
And finally, the phone is quite convenient. It is pleasant and easy to use. It doesn’t glitch, it doesn’t infuriate, it works smoothly, it feels good in the hand.
